Back 2004 - The garden of childhood
Scene of a very colourful countryside, with two people and a greenhouse. In a row of marigolds, a young girl in the foreground examines a flower she picked. Farther away, at the end of the row, a woman, the young girl's Mom, carries two buckets filled with flowers. Behind her, a large blue greenhouse. The vertical aspect and depth in this painting are accentuated. Because of this unique perspective, the small girl becomes taller than her Mom and the flowers are larger than the trees. One notices that mother and daughter are united in this flowered alley although they are not on the same side. We see in this painting two parallel moments - one laboring in the reality of adulthood, the other in the delicate innocence of childhood.
